Bella Blue Burlesque

We just had our 3rd Burlesque 101 Showcase. It was by far the biggest and best yet. It never ceases to amaze me at how great my girls are. They all come up with their own acts, costumes, and choreography. They get up in front of a packed house (many of them for the first time) and they shine brighter than I’ve ever seen them shine before. I have watched all of these women timidly walk into class for the first time…nervous…anxiously watching the other regular students…and precariously approaching me before and after class explaining how they have no idea what to do and are just trying something new. And now, here they are. Up on stage. Stripteasing for a room full of friends, family, and complete strangers.

I stand on the side of the stage and watch over as most call me “a mother hen.” Nervously watching but so proud at the same time. It makes it hard to emcee the show because I just wanna gush about how great their acts are and what each girl means to me! Do I do this for the money? I can’t say part of me doesn’t of course. It pays the bills and keeps food in the fridge for sure. But there is NOTHING more rewarding about what I do than to be able to stand in a room full of 20 women each week and help them reach goals that they didn’t think they could in term of their self confidence, their sexuality, and their ability to create and perform art. And then to see that all come to fruition at the showcase…it’s indescribable. And priceless.

I am so lucky to have these girls in my life. They are just one more reason I feel so grateful and fortunate to be able to do what I do for a living. Thanks to all of the people who came to the show and made it such a huge success. We had people sitting on the floor and packed like sardines all the way to the back of the room. I know the people in the back couldn’t hear that well but I’m already working on that for the next show:) Thanks for hanging in there and stayin’ with us for the whole show! We are planning the next one and aiming for around Valentine’s Day. Special thanks to the Allways Lounge for always being such gracious hosts and making sure we have everything we need.
